| The objective of the present study was to make a diagnostic and characterization of the production and marketing of bovine milk in double purpose production systems, also known as tropical dairy, in the premises of Dobladero in José Azueta Veracruz, Mexico. Thirty Milk producers from the Local Livestock Association (Asociación Ganadera Local) were interviewed from May to July 2010. The results show that the production units are common parcels, with traditional pasturage on rain-fed conditions in a dry tropical weather, and supplementary feeding during dry seasons. | A pesquisa foi realizada nos municípios de Dracena, Junqueirópolis, Mirandópolis, Alianças, Ilha Solteira, Castilho, Araçatuba, Birigui e Guararapes, Estado de São Paulo, aplicando-se um questionário para 17 produtores. As informações sobre as etapas do cultivo de Shiitake em toros, catalogando e caracterizando os produtores e o cultivo, foram tabuladas no software Microsoft Excel for Windows. Os resultados evidenciaram que o cultivo de Shiitake, nesta região, é recente, está em franca expansão e os produtores possuem alto grau de escolaridade. | The present work aims to update a series of information about the regional fishing production, by presenting and characterizing the contribution of the different sub-systems of the Amazon basin to the catch landed at the main fishing market of Manaus, Brazil, from 1994 to 1996. Collectors specifically hired for this function registered key information on the fisheries. Thirty nine types or groups of fish were found in the fishing production landed. Jaraqui (Semaprochilodus spp.), curimatã (Prochilodus nigricans), pacu (Myleinae), matrinchã (Brycon cephalus), sardine (Triportheus spp.), aracu (Anostomidae) and tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) were the most important items during three consecutive years. | ABSTRACT: Chemical treatment is a mean to accomplish fruit thinning; although its efficiency depends on the compound used, application time, and dosage. Effect of the chemical hydrogen cyanamide (CH2N2) on the thinning of flowers and fruits of the peach cultivar Coral was assessed in this study. Treatments consisted of five doses of CH2N2 (0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8%) spray application to the point of run-off, at two stages (50% and 100% flowering). | This report documents data and other information gathered from a survey of urban households in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, China. The survey was conducted as part of a research project aimed at understanding the evolution of dairy markets in Asia and the implications for dairy product trade. The survey data provide insights into the purchasing behavior and attitudes of urban consumers in China with respect to dairy products. The report describes the survey and collection process, summarizes selected data from the survey, and provides anecdotal information about the development of dairy production, processing, and product marketing in China. |

| A long-term survey of two mussel populations from two natural mussel beds, Bordj El Kiffan and Boudouaou, was carried out from the end of 1984 to the beginning of 1991. Samples had been also collected from 1978-1979 then from 1992-1993, but only from the first of these. Maximal densities were higher than 10,000 ind. m(-2), due to the spring and summer heavy spatfall. At Bordj El Kiffan, densities of M. galloprovincialis were 50 times more important than those of P. perna. At Boudouaou, the abundance of P. perna was 1.7 times higher than that of M. galloprovincialis. From 1986 to 1988, the mean annual biomass in dry weight of tissue including ash was higher for P. perna at Boudouaou (0.886 kg. m(-2)) than at Bordj El Kiffan (0.486 kg. m(-2)). For M.... |

| A pupunha (Bactris gasipaes Kunth) é uma palmeira que apresenta várias alternativas de utilização: fruto cozido para consumo humano, fabricação de ração, farinha, óleo e palmito, sendo este último, o principal responsável pela expansão da área cultivada com a cultura no Acre (1 .004 ha), podendo a atividade tornar-se uma oportunidade de negócio para pequenos e médios produtores. O cultivo da pupunha para produção de palmito torna-se promissor devido à sua precocidade, rusticidade e elevado perfilhamento, além de permitir melhor controle da qualidade do produto final, quando comparado com o palmito de açaí (Euterpe oleracea) proveniente da exploração extrativa.
